The Goodness of the Sea
Swordfish are one of our signature products, an important part of being your source for gourmet fresh seafood home delivery online, because they are so popular.
Meaty and flavorful, yet mild, they are, for many people, the bridge to a wider appreciation of seafood as a whole. Friends who grew up landlocked sometimes tell us that they got excited about exploring the goodness of seafood when they tasted their first fresh swordfish steak.
Your best fresh seafood market online is the one that can select the very best swordfish and get them to you the fastest. For four generations, we’ve gotten to know the fisheries and boats we can trust. We make sure the swordfish are iced properly, inside and out, even on their return trip from the catch. From their landing here, we move like an NBA team to make sure your servings of these big, powerful ocean dwellers are overnighted to your door.
They Migrate for Food and Temperature
Though we can source our swordfish from the nearby North Atlantic for much of the year, our relationships extend to fisheries elsewhere, too, because the swordfish is kind of a solitary wanderer. They live in some of the widest ranges of temperature of any fish, but still our East Coast swordfish are like people with a vacation home – they head toward the Caribbean in the winter and up toward the Grand Banks in the summer.
Our most abundant local catches are throughout the fall, when the largest East Coast swordfish can reach as much as 700 pounds. In summer, we often call on our contacts in Australia because it’s their winter then. Hawaii and South Africa are other reliable sources, and we know when and where to select, to get the highest quality from sources that are sustainable.
They’re Good In More Than One Way
Swordfish are sought-after not only for their fine flavor and texture, but also their nutritional strengths. Even a 3-ounce serving of swordfish holds 55% of our daily protein value. It has no carbohydrates and a moderate amount of sodium. It is naturally rich in selenium and vitamin B-12 for energy, digestion, red blood cell formation, and healthy nerves.
Because they’re fresh, our swordfish have a translucent appearance, ivory white with ruby-colored core lines. When grilled or seared, a fine swordfish fillet takes on a gentle beige color. So friendly with a variety of recipes, you’ll never tire of this wonderful ambassador from the goodness of the sea.
We’re always working to find the best catch, and to become your own sea-to-home online fish market. And now is a particularly good time to place your Swordfish order.
