Fresh Seafood on July 4th

Does anyone else agree that this is hands down one of the best holidays / weekends of the year? We are all extremely fortunate (those of us in the U.S.) to live in America - and what better way to celebrate our American independence than with our friends and family eating and drinking. Naturally, a celebration of this caliber calls for an assortment of fresh seafood!

Fresh SeafoodFresh Seafood Appetizers

Keeping things simple and straying from the center of plate items (i.e. swordfish, tuna, salmon, lobster, scallops, haddock, etc.) we figured it would be most beneficial to suggest a few picker items to serve as fresh seafood appetizers throughout the day. Two standard favorites: clams and shrimp cocktail.

These fresh seafood dish picks are sure to impress and sure to satisfy. They provide the summer vibe we assoiciate with seafood and set the bar for party apps. Not only that, but they are both extemely easy to prepare. Here's what we suggest:

Clams: Cherrystone Clams Steamed in Wine With Parmesan Drizzle ----- (click hyperlink for instructions to cook this awesome fresh seafood dish)

Shrimp Cocktail: Frozen Campeche shrimp is honestly a go to item for us personally when we bring something home. They come ready for cooking - out of the shell - and are as easy to prepare as they are delicious. All you need to do is boil them in water and prepare a cocktail sauce. Simple as that.

Happy 4th of July and God Bless America!

Michael J. Scola

While earning his degree in business, Michael spent summers and winters working the floor at Boston Sword & Tuna and learning the seafood business from the ground up. As a fifth-generation fishmonger and handled different species, lumped sword and tuna, sorted through vats of haddock and cod, broke down salmon cases, graded the fish, and more. During this time, Mike was a veritable sea sponge, learning from the most-experienced seafood professionals in the game while acquiring the tools needed to be successful in this gritty industry.
